Ordinand Grants

Given other initiatives we are introducing to support ordinands (see below), we are phasing out our financial grants from September 2018.

If however you have previously received an ordinand grant from us prior to September 2018, and are still in training, then you can continue to apply for a reduced grant of £230 per year, payable for each year of your training until you are ordained to the office of deacon.

For all Anglican ordinands training in the UK and Ireland, including those who are just starting their studies and those who have previously received a financial grant from us, support will also be available for your training through our new Ordinand Library (launching in September 2018).

You may also qualify for support through Ordinand Health Grants (see right).

Ordinand Health Grants

Anglican ordinands training on a recognised course in the UK or Ireland are eligible to apply for assistance towards medical costs. This is for a physical or mental health condition which is affecting the ordinand or a dependent member of their family.

These requests will be treated in line with our existing criteria, with the aim of promoting health and relieving illness. Please note that it is unlikely you would receive support to fund treatments that are available on the National or Irish Health Services.

All grant requests are treated confidentially and may be referred to our Medical Advisor upon completion of a medical consent form.  All grants awarded are discretionary and applications are viewed on their own merits.

Before completing an application form, please contact a member of our Grants Team for an informal and confidential chat (call 020 7799 3696 or email grants@sonsandfriends.org.uk)
